About NLMH
Why this exists
Newfoundland and Labrador already has a real, working mental health system: crisis lines, walk-in counselling, hospitals, transition houses, and dozens of community organizations. What's been missing is a way to find the right piece of it quickly, without already knowing how the system is organized. NLMH is an attempt to fix the finding part, not replace the services themselves.
How the data is kept current
Every entry in the directory carries a “last verified” date. High-traffic and crisis-critical numbers (811, 911, 988, the sexual assault and domestic violence lines) are checked most often; community-based listings are reviewed on a slower, ongoing cycle. A small number of entries are explicitly flagged as needing direct confirmation because they could only be sourced from a description, not a current public phone number.
If something here is wrong, use the “Report an issue” link on any listing, or email hello@nlmh.ca.
What this site is not
NLMH is a directory, not a crisis service. It cannot respond to an emergency. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911, or call 811 for a mental health or addictions crisis that isn’t life-threatening. Don’t wait on this site.
