Privacy
What this site does not do
- No user accounts or sign-ups
- No comment sections, forums, or anywhere to post personal content
- No newsletter or "subscribe" forms collecting your email, age, or location
- No analytics or tracking scripts wired in at this time
- No cookies beyond what your browser stores by default to load the page
Search and filtering on the Find a Service page happen entirely in your browser — nothing you type into that search box is sent anywhere or stored.
The self-check tools
The questionnaires on the Private Self-Check page run entirely in your browser. Your answers are never sent to us or anyone else, never saved, and disappear the moment you leave or reset the page. We never see your responses or your result.
The help assistant (chat)
The optional “Ask for help” assistant is the one place where what you type does leave your device. To answer you, your message is sent to our server and, if the AI mode is enabled, to an AI model hosted on Amazon Web Services in Canada (the ca-central-1 / Montreal region), which processes it to generate a reply.
- We do not store or log the content of your conversation, and there are no accounts, so a chat isn’t tied to you.
- The AI provider processes your message only to generate the reply; it does not use it to train its models.
- Please don’t type personal health details or anything that identifies you — you never need to in order to find a service, and the assistant is reminded of this too.
- If a message suggests a crisis, the assistant responds with crisis lines directly and does not route that through the AI model.
Advertising
If advertising is ever enabled, ads are shown only on non-crisis pages and the ad provider (Google) may set cookies as described in its own policy. No ads are shown on Get Help Now or crisis content, and ads are off entirely unless explicitly configured.
Quick Exit
The Quick Exit button, available on every page, immediately replaces this page in your browser history with an external site. It's a browser-level action, not something NLMH logs or is notified about.
External links
Phone numbers, websites, and apps listed in the directory belong to other organizations — government services, non-profits, app publishers — each with their own privacy practices. Once you leave NLMH for one of those, their policy applies, not this one. That includes the app library and the curated app list under Find an App.
Reporting an issue
Emailing hello@nlmh.ca to report outdated information naturally shares your email address with us, the same as emailing anyone. That address is used only to respond to and act on your report.
If this changes
If analytics or any other form of data collection is ever added to this site, this page will be updated to say so plainly, in the same direct terms as the rest of it — not buried in dense legal language.
