Gender identity & sexual orientation
Support for understanding, exploring, or affirming who you are — for any age.
What it is
Questions about gender identity or sexual orientation are a normal part of self-understanding, not a problem to be solved. The distress that sometimes comes with it is much more often caused by stigma, rejection, or lack of support than by the identity itself.
Good to know
2SLGBTQIA+ people in NL have community-specific support built around this — peer-run, not generic — including a dedicated warm line and free counselling through Quadrangle NL.
What helps
Connecting with peer community and, where wanted, affirming counselling both make a measurable difference. Family and friend support matters too — PFLAG exists specifically for the people around someone, not just the person themselves.
When to seek help
There's no problem that has to exist first — support is available for exploration and questions just as much as for distress.
